GOP Backing Themselves Into Corner – Again

Heard Newt Gingrich on the Today Show this morning putting himself and the GOP on the spot.

Matt Lauer first made Newt clarify his most recent Gingrich Letter, a column of commentary on President Obama’s first 100 days. Towards the end of the letter, Gingrich wrote this:

Going forward, it won’t be possible to continue to place blame on former President Bush and the Republicans. If President Obama fails, it will be his failure and his alone.

Lauer makes sure Newt stands by that statement (he did, wholeheartedly and without pause or reservation). Lauer then says, “so, along those same lines, if President Obama succeeds, are you then willing to say it will be his success and his success alone?”

After a short pause, Gingrich says “yes, but…” and then goes into how the President won’t succeed.

I can’t wait. If/when this plan does succeed, how will the right spin it? Many of them would rather eat a handful of schnauzer droppings before they’d admit Obama and the Dems did something right.

And because of this, I know have added yet another reason why I’m rooting for success for our new President.

I saw The Today Show this morning as well. Gingrich was the typical nay saying Republican I’m growing weary of hearing these past few months. Not constructive…just destructive. Their party burning down and all they do is throw gas on it!
