I don’t know if Gov. Dick is a treasonist, or not, I mean this story only calls him “grossly irresponsible” and “ripe for impeachment” after his recent empathy for those idiots who think Texas can secede from the union.
For the record, they can’t, according to their own state constitution. But that doesn’t stop morons on the far right from believing they can, and it doesn’t stop Gov. Dick to pander to them. Did he actually say he supports secession? No, he did not. He’s trying to do a slick little political move, however, that will help him (in his mind) in his upcoming battle for re-election.
From the story:
“And he did not, as some national media reports said, advocate secession. He did, however, assert Texas’ right to leave the U.S., and he expressed sympathy for those so frustrated with the federal government’s taxes, spending and mandates that they feel secession is an option.”
Whipping up his far-right lunatic-fringe supporters is what he hopes to do. Here’s hoping it backfires.
Oh, and what would have happened to a Democratic governor between 2000-2008 if he’d have done something similar to support an anti-Bush position? We’d never hear the end of the whining and screeching about “anti-Americanism” from the jingoistic right, would we?
And for the record, I don’t think Rick Perry is a treasonist for his words. Idiot? Yeah. Treasonist? No. Nowhere near the level of treason of, say, a talk radio host or a moronic Minnesota congresswoman calling for revolution.

Wasn’t there a secessionist movement among liberals in the northeast a few years ago?
