What an unbelievable turnaround in just two short seasons in Chicago for the Blackhawk franchise. Sad to say, it’s now COMPLETELY obvious how much Bill Wirtz was holding back this club.
In just two short years since Rocky Wirtz took over for his dad, and made perfect hire after perfect hire, the ‘hawks are again the talk of the NHL…even though they’re not quite the talk of their own town.
Names like Hull, Mikita, and Esposito…shut out for many years, are now again involved with the club. The U.C. rocks during ‘hawk games. They put on (with the Detroit Red Wings)a helluva show on New Year’s Day outside at Wrigley Field…the first time Wrigley Field has been actually useful in…umm, EVER.
And now the playoffs. Here’s hoping the young Blackhawks make a long run, and Chicago sports radio finally figures out that the real up-and-comers and the real excitement in town are the always-exciting and talented Blackhawks.
BTW, a prediction for you Illinoisans: The NEXT franchise from Chicago in a major sports league to win a championship will be the Chicago Blackhawks. Count on it. It may not be this year, or even next. But that matters not. No other team in town will contend for a title until after the ‘hawks win one.

We were actually just talking about this very thing last night while watching the Wings whoop on Columbus and whatever was going on in the Hawks-Flames game. It’s really amazing how different they look now opposed to a couple of years ago.
And the MLS is considered a major sports league, and I think it will be the Fire before the Hawks. Remember, the Blackhawks have to make it past my Red Wings before they can even think about hoisting the Cup.
