Jay Cutler is now a Bear. Talk show hosts and callers all over Illinois are sitting in their soaked plain white BVD’s (except for the typical Bear fan’s Larry-The-Cable-Guy-style-racing-stripe in his underbritches) over the deal. Denver’s new coach, in what looks to the be the move that seals his fate as a short-timer in Denver, has started his tenure by costing his club a 25-year old Pro Bowl QB. Ouch.
As a Viking fan, it becomes a Double Ouch for me…the Vikings, in their infinite (lack of) wisdom, apparently didn’t even pursue this kid, despite heading into the season (for the SECOND straight season) one QB short of being a Super Bowl contender. But the worst head coach in the history of the NFL, Brad Childress, feels he’s set at quarterback with Tarvaris Jackson, the worst starting QB in the history of the NFL.
Then on top of Minnesota’s management ineptness, a division rival gets this kid. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think Jay Cutler is going to become Joe Montana or Steve Young anytime soon, but he’s pretty good. Matter o’ fact, he immediately becomes the best QB in the NFC North, ahead of Aaron Rodgers. But the Bears still have problems on offense, and while this kid is indeed pretty good, he’s NOT going to lead the Bears to a Super Bowl anytime soon.
My prediction? The Bears will still miss the playoffs, Minnesota still wins the division in SPITE of the worst coach ever, and then gets blown out in the first round of the playoffs…just like last season.

I’m making the same prediction I make every year: the Bears win the superbowl.
Like every year, you have permission to laugh.
