Minnesota Republicans Say Out Loud What Other Republicans Won’t Admit

“We’ve had five years of the No Child Left Behind regime, and I think it’s safe to call it a failure now. We’re giving it an F and trying to take back our schools.”

So says Minnesota Republican Senator Geoff Michel of Edina. The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports on efforts to pull out of this ridiculous program. BTW, Minnesota has long been near the top in the rankings of it’s public schools, from #1 in the 70’s and 80’s to rankings anywhere from #7 to #13 now (the slip in ranking has come, not coincidentally, over the same period of time that the GOP has taken control of the state’s House and Senate in the last 20 years).

Didn’t Ted Kennedy write that bill?

    There are Republicans in Minnesota?

Real Americans can be found in any community…

Mouse: Yes, there are many Republicans in Minnesota, and many of them are wonderful people (after all, they live in Minnesota…probably like hockey, too). There are also quite a few far-right wacko, wrong-on-most-everything Republicans who have too much say in what goes on there.

Vonnie: First of all, Minnesota would be a “state”, not a “community”. Pay attention. Be that as it may, define “Real American”. If you mean the many millions of caring, giving, compassionate, tolerant-of-religions, race and lifestyle, and generally friendly people – both left and right politically – that want to see America thought of highly the world over for those traits, then, yes, I’m happy to say there are “Real Americans” in every community.

If you mean the not-as-many millions of war-mongering, bible-thumping, gun-toting, racist, bigoted, homophobic, far-right bullies who could care less what people think about us, then, yes, I’m SAD to say we have those in MOST every community, too.

If you add money-grubbing, chicken-hawk, empire-building oil men like the jerks currently in the White House, then I say nope, not in every town, and nope, not even CLOSE to being “Real Americans”. Your heroes, Vonnie, are the farthest thing from “Real Americans” I can think of.

And both of you…way to respond to the subject. Mouse, I thought you were Mr. “On Topic”.

It’s a pleasure to pull your chain.

It’s about time you tugged on something else.
