Sometimes Even The Worst Organizations Make The Right Move

The Cubs have just sent Michael “Rockhead” Barrett to San Diego for some cash and a backup catcher. Talk about addition by subtraction. Now, they’re just a dumping of Kerry Wood away from another positive move for team chemistry.

I agree, i’d rather have two good defensive catchers than all hit, no glove barrett.

HOwever, BJ, I don’t see you sticking up for your boy AJ as much since he spiked Morneau. Finally seeing him for the dirty player he is?

I’ve been shaking my head since the Cubs went with Barrett over Pudge a few years ago.

    ….and in other sports.

The IHL is back. Talk about whistling past the graveyard.

I still like AJ, Pudge, but you’re right, I don’t think of him like I used to. I actually started losing respect for him long before the Morneau incident, however (which was nothing, BTW, Gardenhire just used it to fire up his team…that’s what great managers do). I started losing respect when he didn’t go back after that punk Barrett after the sucker punch. And I saw him play a little sissy-like on other occasions last year, too. AJ isn’t too willing to give up his body at homeplate on defense, and I thought he was a winner. Guess not. AJ is about 6-4…he has no excuse to be the wimp he is.

But the annoying little punk can still come up with big hits at key times, it’s just that the rest of Sox can’t seem to this year. Now, I never had a problem when the Twins traded AJ when they did, because I figured they knew Mauer was ready (they were right, he was, and he’s 10 times the catcher AJ is…which makes him 1 million times the catcher that Barrett is), and I liked who they got from San Fran in return. They absolutely stole from the Giants…Bonser, Nathan, and Liriano all in one deal for just AJ? Wow. But AJ did help the Sox win that World Series, and punk or not, I don’t think they could have won it without him.

I love my Cubs. Always have and always will. But I am baffled how these front office IDIOTS get to keep their jobs. Why are Prior and Wood still on the payroll? Trade these oft-injured balsa stick men to some other team for a few minor leaguers.
