A Good Year for the Outlaw

If Guilty, Vick Needs To Do Time

I’ll preface this by saying I will NOT be Nancy Grace and convict someone before the evidence is in, like she did with the Duke lacrosse players…an incident she refuses to apologize for even though it’s now been proven what most of us already suspected…Grace is an idiot.

With that  in mind, I will say this:

If ESPN’s Sunday report of Michael Vick’s DEEP involvement in the barbaric activity of dog fighting is true, not only does his NFL career need to be over,  this dude needs to go to prison. Dog fighting is illegal in all 50 states, and a felony in 48 of them. The NFL already has far to many felons, ex-felons, wannebe-felons, and shouldbe-felons in the league. New commish Roger Goodell has started to suspend players for their idiotic activity. If the allegations against Vick are true, he needs the ultimate penalty: NO MORE FOOTBALL. EVER. If the allegations are proven, he will most likely do time or plea bargain into a hefty fine. If that happens and the NFL does NOT terminate his career, they will prove themselves once again to be weak and only after the almighty dollar.

As bad as the allegations are against Vick (and they’re pretty bad, if you saw the police informant talking to ESPN Sunday), he should do time. As with so many NFL players, how many times can they have  a brush with the law and not do time? BTW, with all the talk about “not snitching” going on in Peoria, where dog fighting is also apparently quite prevelant, it was good to see this informant doing what the police are paying him to do and providing names, dates, activities, etc. Sure, the “informant” was probably part of the problem at one time, most informants fall into that category. But at least he’s not shutting up. He’s ”snitching”, and that’s a positive in my book.

Also, how stupid does NFL running back Clinton Portis look today? Here’s what Portis thinks, according to an AP story, about Vick’s alleged dog-fighting:

“According to Portis, though, there’s ‘no reason’ to go after Michael Vick for dog fighting. They’re Vick’s dogs and Vick’s property, the Washington Redskins running back said. ‘The man should be able to do what he wants.’”

Nice, Clinton, nice. Moron. Umm, yeah, a felony offense? Nah, it’s his property and they’re his dogs…what’s wrong with that, right Clinton? Sheesh. Ya know how we always talk about “throwing the bums out” of Washington, and everyone makes noise about replacing every politician? I’m beginning to feel that way about the NFL. No wonder I can’t stand to watch it anymore.
